The History:
In 1860, the land was cleared, and a log cabin was built by a Belgian family whose descendents live close by today. After surviving the Peshtigo fire that leveled all other farms and churches within two miles, the family bricked over the logs, and continued to live in the house and run the farm.

The Belgian Farmhouse
Lovingly restored in the 1990s to its 19th century old world charm, this Belgian brick over log farmhouse features modern conveniences, exposed cedar logs, original hardwood floors, an interior porch/sunroom, and an exterior “wrap around porch”. The original house includes a kitchen with a wood burning cook stove, dining room area, living room, two bedrooms (one of which is a master bedroom with a warming stove and an air conditioning unit), loft and storage areas, and two full baths, one with a large, comfortable claw foot bath tub with overhead heat. A tin roof and rain barrel drainage system adds to the charm of this house!

New Living Quarters, An Upgraded Home!
An owner built addition in 2003 includes air conditioning, an alarm system, two separate attached garages, a kitchen, den, loft and screened porch, and a carpeted master bedroom suite with a walk-in closet and a full bath. The 3-sided, octagonal den (first floor) and screened in porch (second floor) are one above the other with screened/glasses windows that allow for comfortable temperatures, no matter what the weather and spectacular view of adjacent country-side where the sun rise and sunset can be enjoyed each day!

This property includes 25 acres of farmland, a pond with its own water delivery system, a fenced and raised bed flower and vegetable garden, many trees, and a log granary, built in the 1880’s. Green Bay and all of Door County are minutes away – County Road X, the main road in front of the house connects the two main highways that lead to these cities, yet the home is set back from the rood, and the area is serene and secluded. Farm owning neighbors are closeby and friendly!
